Blog Writing #1

Como estan?!

So far this class has been really helpful! I have never written this many PR materials, and its awesome practice for my future! I am thoroughly enjoying working with my client (The Alchemist Theatre and Bayview Lounge) because what they do is right up my alley!

I have a funny story about some sketchy PR work that relates to internal communication:

I am a professional comedian on the side, and I perform stand-up for a place called Mikey's. Well, apparently I will be performing tomorrow night, which is awesome. What's not awesome is that I found out about it via Facebook event invite, hahahaha.

Basically, if I didn't read it, I would have ZERO idea about me performing. Talk about lack of internal communication! Luckily, that place RULES. You should all come out and see the show for FREE! :-D

THANKS!

My Twitter experience

I created a Twitter account sometime last year just to stay aware of the growing fads of this social media thang, and because my friend Jaclyn Poeschl (Gee, you may know her), suggested I sign up.

Even though I had it registered and ready to go, I BARELY used it. I think I "tweeted" maybe five times throughout the year and it was when I updated my fitness/comedy blog. I have and always will LOATHE how people update their Twitter to be "I'M GOING TO THE BATHROOM NOW!" or "EATING BREAKFAST!"

That's just stupid.

THEN, once the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien started, he would do this segment called "Twitter Tracker" that basically makes fun of Twitter, especially in the celebrity world. It was "ridic" and hilarious, and made me think even less of Twitter... but made me want to use it more. I never realized it was such a HUGE fad among people.

So FINALLY, this class happened and it was making me Tweet every day! At first, I kept up with really well. Then as a week went by, I kept forgetting to Tweet. That surprised me, because I thought doing it at least twice a day for a week would become habitual. BUT! It didn't :-(

But even though I don't Tweet twice everyday, I now Tweet once a day instead of once a month! YAY.
